Job Description
FLSA Status: Exempt
Classification: Part-time
Supervises: No one
Reports to: Head of School
Compensation: $25/hr
Position Summary: The Handyman/Groundskeeper ensures City School’s buildings and grounds are safe, clean, and well-maintained. This role performs minor repairs, preventative maintenance, and landscaping duties, while assisting with facility needs and event setups. The position requires basic skills in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work, along with attention to detail and reliability in keeping the school environment functional and welcoming.
Position Reporting Responsibility: This position reports directly to the Head of School.
Position Requirements/Qualifications:

Hold a Bachelor’s degree, or at least a High School diploma with related, equivalent work experience.
Prefer 3-5 years of experience working in facility maintenance including custodial maintenance.
Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the Head of School and leadership team by helping carry out the Facilities Priority List and assisting with facility improvement projects.
Maintain school buildings and grounds, including mechanical, electrical, and general repairs.
Notify leadership of urgent maintenance or safety issues.
Work collaboratively with staff to support facility, event, security, and safety needs.
Perform custodial and groundskeeping tasks as needed to ensure a clean, safe, and functional environment.
Assist with physical security measures and routine safety checks.
Help track facility maintenance needs and supplies.
Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance or repair needs.
Maintain supplies, tools, and equipment in good working order.
Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, and respect for confidentiality.
Work cooperatively to solve problems and complete tasks.
Be flexible and willing to handle a wide variety of tasks—from routine cleaning to minor repairs—with a positive attitude.
Take initiative, learn new skills, and complete all work carefully and efficiently.
Assist with special projects or other duties as assigned.
Use basic technology tools such as email, Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), and Google applications.
